GPM are flexible machines that perform operations of different type	SPM perform operations of same type only.
Initial Investment cost is less.	Initial Investment cost is high.
They are slow in operation	They are fast in operation
They are suitable for batch as job order production.	They are suitable for mass production only.
Can be adopted in case of design change.	In case of change in design, SPM may be out of use.
Only one operations is performed at a time	Number of operations are performed simultaneously.
It is manually operated machine.	It is semi-automatic or automatic machine.
In GPM, there is only one tool spindle	In SPM, there are multiples tool spindle.
For ex- Lathe, Milling, Shaper, Boring Machine,Etc.	For Ex- Capastan Lathe, Gun drilling Machine, Transfer machine ,etc
