(i) When we hear a sound, it is perceived by our human ear. This perceptual property of the human ear is captured in the technique.
(ii) The power spectrum of the speech signal is converted to a Bark Scale which is similar to the human ear's perceptual model.
(iii) Perceptual linear prediction (PLP) and MFCC's approaches are quite similar.
(iv) PLP is a combination of DFT and LP technique.
