  • It consists of a circular R.C.C. tank with hopper bottom & having a fixed or a floating type of roof over its top.

  • The raw sludge is pumped into the tank & when the tank is first put into operation it is seeded with the digested sludge from another tank.

  • As screw pump with an arrangement for circulating the sludge from bottom to top of the tank or vice versa is commonly used for stirring date sludge sludge sometimes power driven mechanical devices may be used for stirring the sludge, although these are not very popular at present.
