Orthogonal cutting :
Cutting edge of tool is normal to cutting velocity direction.
The direction of chip flow velocity is perpendicular to the edge of tool
Cutting edge is longer than the width of the cut.
orthogonal type of cutting is called 2 - dimensional cutting.
In this type of cutting, tool life is less.
Oblique cutting :
Cutting edge of tool is inclined at acute angle to cutting velocity direction.
The direction of chip how velocity is at an angle with normal to cutting edge of tool.
Cutting edge may or may not longer than width of cut.
Oblique cutting is called 3 - dimensional cutting.
More tool life.
