Streams are classified into 3 types:-

  • Fresh water:-

    • Class AA: Drinking water after approved disinfection with additional treatment if necessary to remove naturally present impurities.

    • Class A: Drinking water is subjected to approve treatment equal to a minimum of coagulation, sedimentation, filtration and disinfection plus additional treatment to remove natural impurities if necessary.

    • Class B: Bathing or any other lesser use.

    • Class C: Fishing or any other lesser use.

    • Class D: Agricultural, industrial, cooling or any other use.

  • Tidal salty water:-

    • Class SA: - Shell fishing for market purpose or any other usage.

    • Class SB: - Bathing for any other uses except shell fishing for market purpose.

    • Class SC: - Fishing and any other usage except bathing and shell fishing.

    • Class SD: -Any usage except fishing, bathing and shell fishing.

  • Underground water:-

    • Class GA: - Drinking, coolinery or food processing and any other usage.

    • Class GB: - Industrial or other water supply and may other usage except described in class GA.
