Emulsification is property of an oil lubricant, to get intimately mixed with water forming emulsion

Significance:

• A good emulsion generally has low emulsion number, so that even if water comes in contact with the oil in a lubricated part, it will not form emulsion.

• Petroleum oil has low emulsification number but vegetable oil has high emulsification number
