Compare DSB-FC, DSB-SC and SSB, & hence calculate total power in following forms of AM : DSB-FC & SSB-SC,

Where A 400W carrier is modulated to depth of 75%

DSB-FC DSB-SC SSB-SC
1] It is a double side band along with carrier AM. It is a double side band without carrier AM. It is only one side band AM, without carrier.
2] B and width = 2fm Band width = 2 fm Band wdth = fm
3] Less number of channels in a given frequency range. Less number of channels in a given frequency range. More number of channels in a given frequency range.
4] More power consumption. Moderate power consumption Least power consumption
5] Easy reconstruction at $RX^r$ end. Moderately difficult reconstruction. Difficult reconstruction.
6] More redundant data. Moderately redundant data. Least redundant data.
7] No need of synchronization. Tracking might be required. synchronization or tracking is essential.

Given: Pc = 400 W

% m = 75%

$\therefore$ m = %m/100

m = 0.75

Case 1: DSB-FC

$PT \ = \ ( 1+ \frac{m^2}{2}) \ Pc$

$= ( 1 + \frac{0.75^2}{2}) \ \times \ 400$

$PT_{DSB} \ FC = 512.5 \ w$

Case 2: SSB-SC

$PT = \frac{m^2}{4} \ Pc$

$= \frac{(0.75)^2}{4} \times \ 400$

$PT_{SSB} - \ SC \ = 56.25 \ w$
