The UN has decided to highlight the government's efforts as a successful case study on disaster management. The state government aimed for "zero casualty" and evacuated over 9 lakh people in high risk areas before the storm hit the state. The timely and accurate predictions of the meteorological department along with the swift action of the government saved hundreds of lives.
