A machining center can be defined as a sophisticated CNC machine tool controlled by a computer sunning programs driven by numerical data, which can perform multiple machining operations like milling, drilling, tapping and boring operations at the same location controlled by making use of several axes and a variety of tools with Automatic tool changer unit.

The CNC machining centers can be broadly classified in two various varieties:

1) Vertical Machining Centre

2) Horizontal Machining Centre
