• The slab which is supported between two opposite supports is called a one way slab.
• When the aspect ratio (ly/lx) is greater than 2, the slab is called as a one way slab.
• Aspect Ratio= ly/lx>2
• It bends in one direction only.
• Main reinforcement is provided along shorter span only.

Distribution steel is provided in transverse direction to hold the main steel in position and also take care of shrinkage & temperature stresses.
