- When metal to metal contact occurs, bearing material should not damage journal material. (It should not stick or weld together)
- High compressive strength to with stand high pressure without distortion.
- Sufficient endurance strength to avoid failure due to fluctuation.
- It should conform with journal material(adjust it shape)
- Should be soft to allow dust particles to get embedded.
- Sufficient corrosion resistance
- They should not be very costly and must be easily available.
