INTRODUCTION
Definition
A Multiple Activity Chart is a chart on which the activities of more than one subject (worker, machines etc.) are each recorded on a common scale to show their interrelationship.
Types of Multiple Activity Chart (MAC)
Man-Machine Type Chart- When one operator is working on one machine.
Man-Multi Machine Type Chart- When a single operator is working on number of machines.
Multi-Man on Same Machine Chart- When a group of workers are working on a machine.
Multi Man-Multi Machine Chart- When a group of operator is working on multi machines.
SIGNIFICANCE
- This chart shows different activities of operator and machine on a common time scale.
- It shows periods of idleness on part of any subjects.
- It is possible to rearrange these activities so that such ineffective time is reduced.
- The timing must be accurate enough for the chart to be effective.
- It can also be used to present the picture of operation performed simultaneously by a worker and machines.
- To determine number of operators required in teamwork to perform the given job
CONSTRUCTION
Separate bars and columns are allocated to each subject.
These subjects are placed against common time scale.
Activities of worker and machines are recorded by shading the respective bars or column.
Then the activities are plotted in sequence against the common time scale.
