The records to be maintained on a construction site are as follows: -

  1. Job status Records/ Work Progress Report: - This is usually prepared by the engineer in charge of the site and gives the actual progress of the work at any point of time. This is used to compare the actual progress of the work against the planned schedule.
  2. Cost revenue Report: - This is usually prepared by the accountant/ auditor for the project. It gives the details about the amount of money spend on the project till date. This used for the cost control
  3. Material Inventory Record: - This is usually prepared by the material manager and gives information regarding the trends in consumption of various materials. This gives an idea about the utilization of resources in the project.
  4. Equipment Inventory Record: - This is similar to material inventory record and gives information about equipments currently used.
  5. Daily Job Diary:- This is maintained by Supervisor Engineer. It is used for the record of work done in the day. This record gives the information about the changes or modifications made from the scheduled work if any.
  6. Labour Attendance Record and Daily Wages Sheet:- Generally for labour contractor payments, daily or every shift attendance record is kept. Apart from the above, technical staff attendance, engineers, supervisors, and peon attendance register is kept.
  7. Periodic Bills Record: - Bills on work till date from the previous bill and work checked by engineer-in-charge put up for the payment.
