Since $I_1$ introduces an infinite impedance, the gain is limited by the output resistance of $m_1$

$\therefore\,\, A_v=-gmr_0$

This is called as "intrinsic gain" of a transistor, this quantity represents the maximum voltage gain that can be achieved using single device.
