Operations That Are Performed In Sheet Metal Working

A piece of metal whose thickness is in between .15mm to 6mm is called sheet metal.

Thinner is called foil and thicker is called plate.

1. Bending

   Bending is metal forming process in which a force applied to a piece of sheet metal,cause it to bend and form a desired shape.

1. Shearing

   Separating material in to two parts

3. Blanking

A piece of sheet metal is removed from a larger piece of sheet and this removed part is a required product.

4. Punching

A piece of sheet metal is removed from a larger piece of sheet and this removed part is scrap.

1. Piercing

   It uses a bullet like punch for making holes in the sheet.
