fig shows the connection diagram of IC 74163

1) Initially DCBA = 0011 is loaded into the counter. Then the counter counts up from 0011 to 1100.

2) As soon N it reaches 1100 the O/P $Q_D$ and $Q_C$ are connected to NAND gate and O/P of NAND gate is connected to LOAD so 0011 is loaded again.
