The following are the objectives of treatment of water

To make water odour free and tasty.
To make it colourless.
To make the water safe and sparkling for drinking and domestic purposes.
To remove dissolved gases and turbidity of water.
To make it free from all objectionable impurities present in suspension, colloidal or dissolved form.
