(1) A.C voltage applied to 2 diodes in series.

(2) Diode 1 only admits positive cycles.

(3) Diode 2 only admits negative cycles.

(4) As the lead is tapped to centre of the transformers the circuit completes and a pulsating D.C flows through it.
