Conventional energy sources includes oil, gas and coal. These conventional sources are usually fossil fuels.
Their use leads to increased greenhouse gas emissions and other environmental damage.
Advantages are:
Cheap to produce large quantities of power
Building power plants are easy and can be done near cities
Readily available/convenient and hence price is lower.
Limitation are:
Burning fossil fuels produce CO2 which in turn causes Global warming.
Nuclear is danger
Fossil fuel supply will decrease and price increases.
Nuclear waste will remain toxic for many thousands of years
