Use of computers in Estimation process

1. Traditional methods in construction lacking an organized and systematic approach are in adequate, and often lead to inefficiency and waste.
2. Sophisticated information and data handling capabilities of an electronic computer offer many helpful ways to produce a better control in estimation of projects for less money.
3. Computer applications in design phase of the project are very helpful.
4. During construction phase of the project, computer serves as a powerful tool in organizing the three major areas: logistics and material, contract administration, and project scheduling and cost control. Future promises greater research in building information system.
5. The use of handheld computers and estimation systems can provide the means for estimators to collect reliable and accurate information and allow them to instantly inform all parties involved of the status of the project without the need of physical meeting.
