A gear train is an arrangement of more than one gear pairs to transmit motion to different shafts at different speed ratios.

Types and applications:

  1. Simple: Used in rolling mills.
  2. Compound: Used in watches and clocks
  3. Reverted: Used in Lathe, automobiles, etc.
  4. Epicyclic: used in elliptical mechanisms.
