A series RIC circuit is connected to the ac voltage source V(t)= 24 sin (1000t +20)V. If R= 150 rms and L=0.1H, what value of capacitance C is required to make phase angle between V(t) and i(t) in the circuit equal to zero degrees. -

Given: R= 15Ω

L= 0.1H

V(t) = 24 sin (1000t +20o) V

Ф =0o

As Ф is 0o, the circuit is in resonance

XL =XC

∴ 2π + L = 1/ 2 πfc

∴ C= 1/ (2 πf) 2 * L

= 1/ (1000)2 * 0.1 = 1 * 10.5

= 10 πf
